Information Pack for Child Passport Renewal Mailed-in Application (PC8)

Eligibility

Child passport renewal applications (PC8) can be mailed-in provided the applicant is: 

  • aged up to 15 years old and    
  • has held a previous passport
  • has both parent consent
  • applicant is based in Pakistan 

If you meet all of the above criteria, you may complete your PC8 overseas passport application APPLICATION PORTAL. Please ensure that you read all attached instructions carefully.

If your current passport does not meet these requirements, you will be required to submit a new child passport application in person by appointment only.

For first-time child applications and applicants aged 16 or 17, the application must be lodged in person by appointment only.

Please note that due to increase in demand for Australian passport, there is considerable waiting time for appointments.

For applications lodged by mail in Pakistan

  • A drop-off and collection service are NOT AVAILABLE at the Australian High Commission in Islamabad for mailed-in applications.
  • Please complete Overseas Passport Application form online using the APPLICATION PORTAL. Please note onshore application form is not acceptable.
  • DO NOT send any original documents, including your current passport.
  • Incomplete applications will be delayed. Common issues include:
    • Photographs that don’t meet the Australian passport guidelines, are digitally altered, or contain ink marks;
    • Signatures not fully contained within the white declaration box;
    • Incorrect date formatting (please use DD/MM/YYYY);
  • Payment Instructions:
    • Payment must be made via bank draft/pay order only in favour of “Australian High Commission Official Account” for an exact amount in Pakistani Rupees (PKR).
  • Additional notes:
    • If your passport is damaged, please contact the passport section of the Australian High Commission before mailing your application.

                Guide for a child renewal passport application (PC8) by mail

                     

 

 1. Complete the online form in our APPLICATION PORTAL

 

                          

 

 2. Photos

  • Provide four recent identical colour photographs, taken within the last six months. Please refer to camera operator guidelines and Passport photo guidelines for more detailed requirement.​
  • The two, out of four, photographs must be endorsed on the reverse side by the child’s guarantor. The endorsement must be written clearly and legibly in black pen and must state: “This is a true photograph of [insert child’s full name],” followed by the guarantor’s signature in black pen.
  • Do NOT attach the photographs to the application form, as this may cause damage.
  • You may wish to obtain your photos from one of the suggested photo studios in Pakistan, however, “The Australian High Commission does not endorse any of the photo studios listed, provides no guarantees as to the quality of their services and accept no liability should you choose to engage any of them.

                                                                                         

                    

 

 3. Parents proof of identity

  • Certified copies of both parents’ identity documents on A4 paper that show their name, photo, signature and current Pakistan address (i.e. both parents or those with parental responsibility for the child who signed section 17 on the application form)
    • Name changes: If the current names of either parent are different to how they appear on the child’s birth certificate, please include certified documents that explain the change of name.
    • Certification: non-Australian guarantor can certify copies as “this is a true copy of the document present to me”. Non-Australian guarantor list is available below in the guarantor's section.
    • Current address: Please provide statement on B11 General Declaration Form if lodging parents’ photo ID do not contain current address or have the address in local language.

 

                   

 

 4. Print the application form

  • Print your application on plain white A4 paper, using blank ink only. Ensure that your form has printed in full and is not cut off at the top or bottom of the page.
  • US standard letter paper or US legal paper sizes are also acceptable, but only if they’re scaled properly.  Refer to Child passport | Australian Passport Office.
  • Provide current contact details on the form (including mailing address), for Pakistan


 

                 

 

 5. Signing the application form

  • Sign the form using black pen, ensuring your signature is fully contained within the designated signature box including name of lodging parent withing the designated box. Please do not make any alternations or use correction fluid on the signature or date.
  • Children 10 years or older must sign the application form ensuring signature is fully contained within the designated signature box unless there is a medical reason or disability that prevents them from signing.

 

                    

 

 6. Guarantor (find below link to the non- Australian guarantor list)

  • A non-Australian guarantor must sign section 11 of the application form. Remember the guarantor must also endorse the back of a passport photo by writing ‘This is a true photo of [the child’s full name]’ and signing in black pen.

                   

 

 7. Consent

  • Parental Consent is required for a child passport.  In this case each person with parental responsibility must agree or consent to the child being issued with a passport or other travel document. Each person must provide this consent by completing sections 12 to 15 of the application form. See:  Parental Responsibility and Consent.
  • If a parent is residing in Australia: Their signed consent must be submitted, along with a copy of their photo identification, to the nearest Post Office or Passport Office at least one week prior to the scheduled appointment.
  • If a parent is residing outside Pakistan: Their signed consent and a copy of their photo identification must be submitted to the nearest Australian diplomatic or consular mission at least one week before the scheduled appointment.

 

                

 

 8. Payment

  • The Passport fee can be paid only by a pay order/bank draft issued by any bank in Pakistan in Pakistani Rupees in favour of “Australian High Commission Official Account” for the exact payable amount. Turnaround for passport applications is up to six weeks from the day you receive passport application receipt from passport section. There is no priority processing available in Pakistan.

 10.Submitting your application by Mail

  • Please mail your complete passport application to the following address:

PLEASE NOTE: To ensure timely processing, passport applications must be received at the above address no later than seven working days before the end of the month.

Applications received after this period will be processed in the following month, and will be subject to the updated passport fee, which may result in delays.

Before mailing your application, please ensure you have included the following:

  • Your printed and signed passport application form.
  • Four (4) identical passport photographs, including two photos properly endorsed by the guarantor.
  • A correctly issued bank draft or pay order from any bank in Pakistan, made payable to the “Australian High Commission Official Account”.
  • Certified photo IDs of both parents and statement on B11 General Declaration Form if lodging parents’ photo ID do not contain current address or have the address in local language.

                

 

 11. How long will it take?

 Please refer to the following guidelines regarding the processing of mailed-in passport applications:

  • Mailed-in applications are received by the Passport Section and processed within two to three weeks. A confirmation email will be sent once your application has been processed.
  • Please allow a minimum of six weeks from the date of the payment confirmation email for your passport to be issued. This receipt is only provided once your application is deemed complete. Incomplete applications will be placed on hold or returned due to missing or insufficient documentation.
  • While most passports are processed within six weeks, some complex cases may require additional processing time.
  • New passports will be dispatched via a local courier service. Unfortunately, in-person collection is not available for application lodged by mail.
