Driver

Applications are invited for the position of driver at the Australian High Commission Islamabad. The applicant should have previous driver experience with armoured vehicles and be proficient in both English and Urdu. The completion of defensive and operational driving courses and a sound knowledge of vehicle maintenance would be an advantage. The successful applicant should be familiar with driving in the Islamabad/Rawalpindi area as well is in Lahore and Karachi.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Education: the applicant should have minimum of Higher Secondary School Certificate (Intermediate).

2. Experience: five years of driving experience, preferably with a diplomatic mission or international organisation. It is preferable that applicants have some experience with driving and maintaining armoured vehicles.

3. Language: limited knowledge of English (speaking, reading and writing) and a good working knowledge of Urdu are required. Language skills may be tested.

4. Knowledge: applicants must be thoroughly familiar with Islamabad/Rawalpindi and surrounding areas, including familiarity with the streets/roads, traffic regulations, and local traffic patterns. Applicants must also possess general familiarity with streets/roads in Lahore and Karachi.

5. Skills and Abilities: applicants must possess a valid Pakistani driver’s license for passenger vehicles and light trucks. Applicants must have the ability to development an understanding of operational security and the security environment in Pakistan.
