Announcement of the 2010 Federal Election
The 2010 Federal Election has been called. Election Day is Saturday 21 August, 2010.
Methods of Voting
You can vote either in person at the Australian High Commission Islamabad or by applying for a postal vote. You will need to know which Australian address you are currently enrolled at in order to be issued with the correct ballot papers for your electorate. You can check at www.aec.gov.au/check or by calling +61 2 6271 4411.
Pre-poll Voting
The Australian High Commission in Islamabad will be conducting pre-poll voting on the following dates:
From Tuesday 10 August 2010 to Friday 20 August 2010
Timings: Monday to Thursday 0900-1600, Friday 0900-1200
By voting early, you may avoid queues and delays.
The High Commission in Islamabad will also be opened on the Election Day, 21 August 2010 from 0900 to 1500 hrs.
For security reasons, please book an appointment and bring photographic identification (such as Passport, CNIC/NICOP card, or driver’s licence) with you. Please note that the ID is required for security reasons only and not for voting purposes.
Postal Voting
Alternatively if you are unable to present at the High Commission, you may register for postal vote by completing the postal vote application form available at http://aec.gov.au/election/pva.htm and returning it to the High Commission via fax to +92 51 2820112, via email to [email protected] or by post.
Please note that the Postal Vote Applications (PVAs) will be accepted until 1500 hrs Pakistan Standard Time (1800 hrs Western Australian Time) on Thursday 19 August 2010. Applications received after this date will not be processed.
Postal Vote Certificates (PVCs) will be issued as soon as the completed PVA is received.
