PROTOCOL/OFFICE ASSISTANT

The Australian High Commission in Islamabad is seeking applications for the position of Protocol/Office Assistant to undertake routine office functions which include protocol matters, handling of incoming and outgoing mail, record management, and assist the office transport section. A detailed job description is also attached with this advertisement.

The selection committee will use the following selection criteria to assess applicants’ suitability. When preparing applications, applicants should directly address each of the selection criteria and provide relevant examples of their work experience. Applications that do not specifically address the selection criteria will not be considered.

The successful applicant will be offered a two-year contract of employment which may be extended subject to agreement between the employer and employee. A three-month probationary period applies.

The starting salary will be negotiated based on the successful applicants’ qualifications and experience. Other conditions of employment are stated in the High Commissions Locally Engaged Staff (LES) handbook.

Selection Criteria


1. Ability to allocate resources and set priorities, to ensure client service requirements are met.
2. Ability to take initiative and respond to challenges.
3. Strong interpersonal skills, including effectiveness in day-to-day consultation and liaison.
4. Demonstrated ability to use a range of databases and IT systems in accordance with relevant privacy and information security policies.
5. Good communication skills, including fluent oral and written English and Urdu
