VACANCY NOTICE
DEFENCE DRIVER
The Office of the Defence Adviser within the Australian High Commission, Islamabad, has a vacancy for a locally engaged employee, as Driver to the Defence Adviser. The position will initially be filled for a period of 12 months, with a probationary period of 3 months, but with possible options to extend for multiple years upon mutual agreement.
TASKS / FUNCTIONS:
• Drive Defence Section vehicles as required, including armoured BMW 745IL
• Drive the Defence Adviser (DA) on all official duties and calls, including significant after hours as required
• Carry out minor maintenance works to Defence Section vehicles and conduct daily checks of oil, water, tyres, etc. Also keep vehicles, both inside and out, clean and roadworthy. Report any damage to Defence Office Manager (DOM)
• Carry out other miscellaneous tasks as directed by the DA, DOM or as requested by the Executive Assistant (EA)
• Support ‘Whole of Post’ tasking priorities, as directed by the DA
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
• Be honest, reliable and trustworthy
• Have 3 to 5 years relevant driving experience, preferably with armoured vehicles, with an excellent driving record (no accidents or legal infringements)
• Have preferably completed defensive and operational driving courses
• Demonstrate sound knowledge of vehicle mechanics
• Have minimum qualification of Matriculation with good English skills
• Should be familiar with driving in Islamabad and surrounding regions, and preferably also Karachi and Lahore
• Be available to undertake significant out of hours duties, including multiple days away from Islamabad, and be very flexible re short notice tasking.
SECURITY VETTING:
Formal security vetting will be part of the selection process.

SALARY:
Full time monthly salary is payable in Pakistani rupees with a fixed overtime rate. Starting salary will be based on experience but is expected to be not less than PKR 15,000 per month.
